The Transplant Financial Coordinator provides the transplant team and patient/family with information related to the financial aspects of transplantation. The scope of the role includes assessment of the patients’ insurance coverage, facilitation of financial approval process, documentation of financial information and related communication, problem solving, patient billing issues, and coordination of financial information flow among payor, patients, and team members. The Transplant Financial Coordinator participates in the development and maintenance of the financial database.
Minimum 2 years medical insurance and financial counseling preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent reasoning, mathematics, oral & written communication skills.
Medical terminology and working knowledge of commercial and Medicare benefit coverage.
Strong problem-solving and organization skills. Knowledge of provider networks.
The incumbent receives additional training and education through general orientation, department orientation, in-service and continuing education programs.
Training on department specific computer systems will be provided.
